Luciano Garofano is a Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Department of Public Health Sciences. He brings his expertise to advance research on Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM), an incurable brain tumor. His impactful research centers on pioneering and evaluating innovative tools to integrate single-cell and spatial transcriptomics to explore how the tumor microenvironment influences GBM evolution.
Dr. Garofano played a key role in decoding gene regulatory networks in GBM, particularly those with the FGFR3-TACC3 fusion gene. His research unveiled Master Regulators, shedding light on the complex transcriptomic program in GBM.
He received his Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from the University of Sannio, in Benevento, Italy. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Actuarial, Financial, and Economic Statistics and a Bachelor’s Degree in Statistical and Actuarial Sciences.
